Description:
Initially, the nickname "bathtub" was in no way intended to denigrate the Taunus P3. Quite the opposite! In the post-war years, the bathtub was a striking achievement in terms of comfort and enjoyment, exemplifying, as it were, the growing prosperity in the economic wonderland of the fledgling Federal Republic. And, the Taunus P3 did indeed resemble a comfortable sedan chair that allowed its occupants to float over the newly created asphalt slopes. By contrast, the top model from Ford in Cologne, on which WIKING based their rendition, not only possessed a more matter-of-fact air but also came across as more economical and practical than its predecessors. The modified shape of the body with its considerably more organic curves also reduced fuel consumption by 20%. Body light green amplified by a white roof plus clear varnish finish, interior with seats and steering wheel in grey. Chassis and bumpers painted in chrome silver, radiator grille and headlamps silver, and tail lights imprinted red. Side door handles, lettering “Taunus 17M” painted silver. Bonnet and tailgate with silver “Taunus” and “17M” lettering. Silver wheel rims. Tyres imprinted with white wall rings. Hand-painted orange front indicators. UPC: 4006190200035
