The F-Unit is probably the most recognized diesel locomotive in North American history. It was found on railroads from East to West and North to South. The EMD F7 was a 1500 horsepower multi-purpose locomotive, and in passenger service would be equipped with steam generators to power the trailing cars. The Canadian National Railway was fully equipped with Diesel locomotives by the 1960's, where they would use locomotives like the F7 to pull freight consist as well as passenger trains like the Super Continental.
