Certainly not suitable for hot pursuits, the VW Polo was never designed for that purpose anyway. Instead, the compact car with a size that is even smaller than the Golf class helped local law enforcement and traffic police perform their routine patrol and traffic monitoring duties. Sharing the same genes with the Audi 50, the first-generation VW Polo was launched in 1975 and established a model series below the Golf class that is successful to this day and found in a great many fleets of administrative vehicles.
