Scandinavia sends its regards: In the seventies, dozens of companies teamed up to form an international logistics network. Just as the Volvo F88 that WIKING is now releasing as a miniaturised version, nearly a dozen vehicle types run by a variety of partnering forwarders were brandishing the striking Polar-Express lettering on the North-South route. A multitude of vehicles ensured that the cool chain remained uninterrupted at all times between Finland and Italy. Following their success with the new moulds used for the tractor unit of the F88, WIKING proceeded to develop the classic tractor-trailer rig. These steps laid the foundation for the Polar-Express – the contemporary prototype fits perfectly into the model world of the Scandinavian long-distance transporters that operated during decades long gone.
