Mercedes-Benz was on the top of the list of suppliers considered by heavy goods forwarder Pieper in their search for special vehicles capable of handling special missions day in and day out. The vehicle of choice was the Mercedes-Benz with the typical cubic driver's cab and the ballast platform. Pieper boasts a long tradition in the forwarding business, which began with its founding in Dortmund all the way back in 1901. Well into the nineteen fifties, Pieper managed to grow with the increasing tasks that the rebuilding efforts after the war imposed on the forwarding company. This capacity turned the company into one of the major players in the industry.
