Description:
When performed by a road train bedecked in the colours of Swedish forwarder ASG, this mundane job becomes a noble task: Steeped in tradition, the Scania Hauber 111 is pulling a refrigerated semi-trailer this time, completing the theme cycle revolving around the once largest forwarding company in Sweden. Notwithstanding that the Swedish tractor unit emerged from new moulds, the old moulds were used to revitalise the semi-trailer. The ASG cycle in particular impresses with a large number of forwarding specialists, vividly illustrating the numerous possible applications in the seventies and eighties. After all, WIKING never fails to fulfil their responsibility of chronicling history as well. The Scania L 111 epitomises the bonnet trucks the Swedes used to build into the nineteen eighties. At the time, the company had just dropped the long-standing double name of “Scania-Vabis”. The version of the Swedish tractor unit that WIKING has miniaturised is the last series model - when the hinged windows were already history in the prototype. For 42 years now, WIKING has been adding the unmistakable look of the Swedish forwarding company ASG to the line-up on many occasions. For the designated transport of refrigerated goods, WIKING relies on a contemporary refrigerated semi-trailer. The “ASG design – this time miniaturised in keeping with the minimalist style of the original – has been a recurring theme at WIKING since 1975, particularly because the striking design of Swedish origin began to dominate the roads in Europe with every new location in their network. Initially founded as early as 1935 by the Stockholm Rederi AB Svea company, the “Aktiebolaget Svenska Godsbilcentraler” company was later acquired by Danzas and is operating under the joint roof of DHL today.
