This was its real appearance: WIKING has the Thyssen tanker roll into the selection bedecked in its original attire, just as it was delivered in Wuppertal by Blumhardt-Fahrzeugbau for their clients from Duisburg. Just as Thyssen'sche Gas- und Wasserwerke GmbH once served as the primary provider to Duisburg and the surrounding area, Thyssen'sche Energie- und Wirtschafts GmbH was in charge of heating oil and, in cooperation with Walsum-Kohle, the supply of fuel and building materials to households. The traditional model maker WIKING, who once released the legendary “Thyssen tanker” in a limited edition, but never delivered it in high volumes, is now unveiling the MAN hood that stays true to the contemporary original. It is reminiscent of the radical changes that began to alter the Ruhr District, when more and more households switched from coal-fired to oil heating - Thyssen considered it their duty to keep their own workforce well supplied.
