The vehicle was essential for everyday operations at the Dortmund site, as the heavy transport specialist Pieper knew how to use the Unimog U 1300 as a reliable workhorse, mostly on the yard at their depot. Its dependable performance as a shunting vehicle alone turned the Unimog into the company’s preferred choice. Pieper boasts a long tradition in the forwarding business, which began with its founding in Dortmund all the way back in 1901. Well into the nineteen fifties, Pieper managed to grow with the increasingly diverse tasks that the rebuilding efforts in the Ruhr region imposed on the forwarding company. This capacity turned the company into one of the major players in the industry.
