It was the last major tractor series produced by Mannheim’s esteemed tractor manufacturer. Originating in the HE series of Heinrich Lanz AG, the Lanz D 2016 was first presented in 1955 at the DLG exhibition in Munich. Produced until 1960, the D 2016 belongs to the last generation of tractors from Lanz and was deemed a full-fledged diesel, as this version dispensed with the gasoline injection during the start-up process. The takeover by John Deere in 1958 effected a change in the delivery colour from blue to green. The burgundy purple colour scheme of the WIKING original was a less common sight in Germany.
