Nothing could bring the Magirus down. It thus comes as no surprise that many tractor units brandishing the stylised depiction of the Ulm Cathedral on the radiator grille found another use long after they had served their initial purpose and the production run of this square hood generation had ended. They were often converted into towing vehicles suitable for everyday use. Compact and ideal for any season, the Ulm “howlers” ensured that even damaged vehicles weighing several tons found their way back to the workshop at home.
