The Henschel HS 140 occupies a special place in the German transport history of the post-war period, especially in its role as a heavy-duty means of transport for Deutsche Bundesbahn. Introduced in an era of incipient economic upheaval, the HS 140 was a prime example of the robust and durable vehicle design devised by Henschel & Sohn in Kassel.
